P = perimeter = 2 × (Length + Breadth). A remainder of 0 counts as the full divisor (for example Aaya 0 = 12). Classical texts such as Mayamata and Manasara use traditional units (hasta / kol), and some traditions apply the formulas to length, breadth or height separately — confirm final construction dimensions with a Vastu consultant.

What is Ayadi calculation in Vastu Shastra?
Ayadi (आयादि षड्वर्ग) is the classical Vastu set of six dimension checks described in texts such as Mayamata and Manasara: Aaya (income), Vyaya (expenditure), Yoni (direction), Nakshatra (star), Vara (weekday) and Tithi (lunar day). Each value is the remainder of a multiplied dimension divided by a fixed number, and it shows whether a building's measurements are harmonious.
How is Ayadi calculated?
This calculator uses the perimeter method: Perimeter = 2 × (Length + Breadth). Aaya = remainder of (Perimeter × 8) ÷ 12, Vyaya = remainder of (Perimeter × 9) ÷ 10, Yoni = remainder of (Perimeter × 3) ÷ 8, Nakshatra = remainder of (Perimeter × 8) ÷ 27, Vara = remainder of (Perimeter × 9) ÷ 7, Tithi = remainder of (Perimeter × 8) ÷ 30. A remainder of 0 counts as the full divisor.
What is the most important Ayadi rule?
Aaya (income) must be greater than Vyaya (expenditure) — “Ayam adhikam, vyayam heenam”. The Yoni remainder should also be odd: 1 Dhvaja (East), 3 Simha (South), 5 Vrishabha (West) or 7 Gaja (North). Even Yonis (Dhuma, Shvana, Khara, Kaka) are avoided.
What should I do if my Ayadi result is inauspicious?
Change the length or breadth slightly and recalculate — a difference of a few inches or a foot often changes Aaya, Vyaya and Yoni. Traditions differ on the unit (hasta, kol or feet) and on whether length, breadth or perimeter is used, so confirm final construction dimensions with a Vastu consultant.
